That’s it – all icons, links, shortcuts will be back on the desktop. If you have a bit of Linux knowledge, getting this working isn't hard.Go to your (now) blank desktop, right-click (click the right-button on your mouse) and select Show Desktop Icons option from the “ View” menu. Once you've pasted the script into a text file, saved the file, and marked the file executable, you can run it from the command line - there are instructions on the page - or create a launcher or hotkey to do it. If you do need to change that value, read the code immediately below it, to see how that value works.) (The page in question, and a comment in the script itself, says the user should alter the dt_name = "Desktop" line to suit. The adjustment is to change nautilus-icon-position (line 12 of the script) to nemo-icon-position. The second version is more ambitious and works a bit differently and I've haven't tried it (and I think it would need adjusting for Mint). The first is the one I've used (or adapted see my next paragraph). ![]() Or rather there are two versions of the script there. The script was written for the Unity version of Ubuntu, but with one adjustment, it works on the Cinnamon version of Mint. I found a script to save and restore desktop the position of desktop icons.
